About the Role We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Superintendent to support on-site construction operations for large-scale multifamily projects in the Houston market. This role works closely with the Superintendent and project leadership to ensure the successful execution of field activities, maintaining quality, schedule, and safety standards throughout all phases of construction.

Key Responsibilities Field Management & Coordination

  • Assist the Superintendent in managing daily on-site operations for multifamily construction projects.
  • Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, trades, and suppliers to maintain workflow and meet project milestones.
  • Monitor field progress and address issues or delays proactively.

Quality Control

  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure work aligns with plans, specifications, and company quality standards.
  • Document deficiencies and collaborate with subcontractors to implement corrective actions.
  • Review shop drawings and material submittals as needed.

Safety Oversight

  • Enforce site safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA, company, and local regulations.
  • Perform daily safety walks and ensure all personnel adhere to safety guidelines.
  • Participate in site safety meetings and toolbox talks.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain daily reports, site logs, photographs, and progress tracking.
  • Assist with RFIs, change orders, and coordination of field-related documentation with the project team.
  • Support the Superintendent with weekly schedules and progress updates.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with project managers, superintendents, engineers, and subcontractors to resolve field issues.
  • Attend coordination meetings to communicate site challenges and recommendations.
  • Help foster a positive, productive jobsite environment.

Qualifications

  • 1–4 years of construction experience, preferably in multifamily or wood-frame/podium projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, field operations, and building systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam) is a plus.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time onsite role at active construction projects in the Houston, TX area.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and navigate large job sites daily.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and typical construction site environments.
