My client is an international Renewable Energy Producer (REP) with over a decade-long trajectory of sustainable growth, that develops, builds, owns and operates renewable energy projects globally. I am looking for a Commercial Operations Manager to join their team in Madrid, Spain on their behalf.

The Role:
The Commercial Operations Manager will be a key member of the Asset Management Team, reporting into the Commercial Operations Team Leader within the Asset Management department in Spain. The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
  • Ensure PPA compliance requirements are identified, understood, and tracked
  • Identify and manage commercial and operational PPA agreement related risks.
  • Detect relevant issues and activities for the proper PPA management.
  • Direct dialogue with agents representing the market, office and control center.
  • Manage energy sales on the wholesale market (OMIE, REE…)
  • Billing of energy and other attributes (GOs), collection management, data storage.
  • Budgeting of energy sales and attributes, validate the monthly revenues calculations creation of monthly sales reports.
  • Active monitoring of changes in the regulation of the electricity market in the regions where projects are located.
  • Manage the negotiation process by coordinating the operations team: O&M, Asset management, E&C, etc. Ensure smooth, efficient, well structured, and organized process. Manage timeline expectations, adherence to tight deadlines.
  • Elaboration and support on force majeure incident reports 
  • Ensure best operational terms are achieved in line with company’s PPA standards.
  • Participation during the PPA negotiations from an AM perspective and during the commercial strategy.
  • To monitor the PPA asset’s value periodically through the interface system to identify any abnormal operating and equipment conditions (cooperate with O&M and AM department).
  • Management of forecasting and scheduling obligations directly or through consultants, forecasting accuracy monitoring, penalties for deviations, coordination of improvement implementations
Requirements:
The role requires ideally an experienced solar PV professional with an engineering background and management experience:
  • Engineering degree complemented by commercial / technical training preferred
  • Preferably knowledge in Energy management & Business and the willingness to learn about renewable sector, PV sites and applications. Additional legal knowledge will be a plus
  • Desirable Knowledge of the energy sector in Spain and interest for the wholesale markets
  • Strong analytical, critical and structured thinking skills
  • Experience managing direct and indirect reports, but also a self-starter thriving on challenge
  • Project planning and management skills.
  • Skills in the generation of documentation and reports.
  • Good relationship builder- open and honest style
  • Systematic, structured and rational approach
  • High level of both spoken and written English (generation of reports and documentation) is a must.
