Floating Offshore Engineering Consultant

Are you interested in working as a floating offshore engineering consultant? Then this could be the role for you.

I am working on behalf of a global consultancy, delivering project development services, owner's engineering and technical due diligence focused on the development and realisation of offshore renewable technology and projects based in Tokyo, Japan.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Dynamic analysis of floating offshore wind farm support structures (including mooring systems, anchors, dynamic cables, etc.) and review of technical documentation.
  • Structural design (outline design, basic design, detailed design) of floating offshore wind farm support structure and review of technical documents.
  • Construction study on floating offshore wind power generation (foundation manufacturing, wind turbine installation, mooring rope installation).
  • Foundation type selection work for floating offshore wind power generation facility support structures.
  • Market research on floating offshore wind power generation (selection of suitable sites, supply chain analysis, understanding of policy documents such as the public offering process and grid connection, understanding of licensing related procedures).
  • Business feasibility evaluation for floating offshore wind power generation (CAPEX/OPEX/LCOE).

Essential experience/ Qualifications
  • Diploma in related engineering fields such as naval architecture, marine engineering, mechanical engineering (BEng, BSc, MEng, MSc, PhD).
  • 3 years of work experience in offshore wind, oil and gas, shipbuilding and other related industries.
  • Japanese proficiency at a level that enables technical discussions with customers, contract negotiations, and presentations.
  • A level of English proficiency capable of communicating internally and externally, as well as exchanging e-mails on a daily basis.
  • General knowledge of offshore wind power in Japan.
  • Practical experience in offshore wind power generation in Japan (research and development, design, construction management, business development, etc.) (preferred).
