Instrument Engineer - Kuala Lumpur

On behalf of a major Oil & Gas operator, WRS are looking for a Instrument Engineer to work in Kuala Lumpur on a contract basis. This will be a 12 month renewable contract, based residentially in the client office in KL, paying a day rate.

The position will be supporting the FEED for a new FPSO.

Job Duties include:
  • Develop detailed design specifications and engineering drawings for instrumentation and control systems based on project requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including process engineers, mechanical engineers, and designers to integrate instrumentation designs into the overall FPSO design.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of instrumentation equipment and systems to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical support during procurement activities, including reviewing vendor documentation, participating in technical clarifications, and ensuring purchased instrumentation meets project needs.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to manage interfaces between instrumentation systems and other FPSO systems such as process control, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., PE license) preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in instrumentation engineering within the offshore oil and gas industry
  • exposure to FPSO projects and FEED phases.
  • Previous experience working for an Oil & Gas operator
  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools for instrumentation design (e.g., AutoCAD, SmartPlant Instrumentation, ETAP).
  • Strong undersanding of international codes and standards (e.g., API, IEC, ISA) related to instrumentation and control systems.
