Are you a Geotechnical Lead Consultant looking to advance your career?

At WRS we are delighted to be recruiting for a global energy consulting firm recognised for delivering environmental consultation and advisory services to offshore renewable projects. They are looking for an experienced Geotechnical Lead Consultant to provide technical leadership to their Project Development team within the Renewable division. This role can be based in either Glasgow, London or Aberdeen. 


You will be leading the project delivery across the portfolio of projects, providing direction on the delivery methodology, ensuring client requirements are met and that deliverables are to a high quality.


For this role the main responsibilities include:
  • Defining best practices, knowledge sharing activities, technical training, innovation ideas and internal tool development within the P&TD team.
  • Actively involved in business development activities associated with technical specialisms.
  • Providing solutions to clients’ problems, drawing on specialists from structures and subsea, field development, technical safety and risk, energy yield, cables and interconnectors, market insights and advisory.
  • Providing technical oversight on:
    • Constraints mapping and site selection across a range of geographies and utilising GIS mapping tools.
    • Preparation of project budgets, LCoE/cost modelling and cost comparisons.
    • Competition analysis and route to market studies.
    • Feasibility studies including technology suitability assessment, project concept definition, installation and O&M planning, risk assessment.
    • Technology review and market entry strategy.
    • Seabed leasing, grid connection, consenting and CfD/auction application advice.
    • Pre-FEED/FEED level design scopes.

A successful candidate will possess the following:
  • 5 years of experience in a consultancy role ideally within offshore wind.
  • Experience with offshore wind, wave, tidal or hydrogen technologies and/or offshore renewable project development.
  • Geotechnical background.
  • Relevant Engineering or Science degree, a PHD or Masters is a bonus.
  • Chartered, or working towards Chartership.
  • Competent user of MS Office tool suite. Python, Matlab or other coding experience would be desirable.
  • A sound knowledge base and passion for the renewable industry.
  • Strong consultancy skills, with experience in business development, project management, and client engagement alongside a track record of high quality technical project delivery.
  • Excellent decision maker with advanced strategic thinking skills.
  • Experience of participating in and/or coordinating multidisciplinary work scopes and teams.
  • Penchant for big picture thinking, problem solving and innovation.
 
Location: Glasgow, London or Aberdeen.
 
Experience:  5+ years experience
 
Education Required: Relevant Engineering or Science degree and Chartered, or working towards Chartership.
