Offshore Wind Project Engineer and EPCI Lead

I am searching for an EPCI Lead to join my Client's Renewables UK Division.

My client are a global energy consultancy with origins in the Oil and Gas sector. With a long track record of delivering environmental and consenting support to offshore renewables projects, in recent years they have established a full suite of renewables capabilities with the creation of our Renewables Division, to offer a one-stop-shop for project and technology development activities. 

The desired qualifications, experience and competencies for this role are summarised below:
  • Relevant Engineering or Science degree at a 2:1 level or higher. PhD/EngD or Masters qualification(s) beneficial
  • 5+ years’ experience in offshore construction (O&G shall be considered; fixed or floating offshore wind preferred) at Tier 1 or Tier 2 installation contractor or Developer
  • Preferably chartered, or working towards chartership with IMechE, ICE or another suitable organisation
  • Have a strong understanding of offshore installation operations, key suppliers and installers, and basic understanding of the fabrication requirements for steel offshore structures.
  • Knowledge of substructure / fixed foundation fabrication methods and equipment requirements is welcome,
  • General supply chain knowledge of UK/EU yards and fabrication capability and supply chain
  • Right to work in the UK, fluent English speaker

  • Location: Most of the Renewables division are based in either our London or Glasgow offices, but we are open to flexible working and hybrid working arrangements may be possible.
We are looking to grow our team to continue to be able to deliver our exciting project portfolio and pipeline as we expand into new markets and develop our client base. Our objective is to hire people that can provide complementary areas of expertise and consultancy skillsets to our existing team.
We are particularly interested in applicants who can provide technical guidance and supply chain know-how to our clients and to our wider team. Our aim is to find applicants with a good overall understanding of renewable energy development and construction, from a commercial and/or technical standpoint.
Whilst each team member has a technical or market specialism, everyone must also maintain a sound knowledge of and ability to deliver projects right across our team capability set. Our projects are almost always highly interdisciplinary in nature and the ability to coordinate and integrate different specialisms is critical to the success of our team.
At X1 level you would be expected to take a lead role in project delivery as either a Technical Lead and/or as a Project Manager. This will involve leading small technical or supply chain teams to drive forward and complete technical or supply chain based studies. You would be responsible for liaising with our clients to deliver their requirements and lead a project team consisting of a range of senior specialists through to junior consultants or analysts to ensure project objectives are met to the high quality that have come to be known for, to time and on budget.

Some typical work scopes that you would be involved in delivering are:
  • Support clients in the development of high level EPCI activities, such as fabrication, load-out and installation tasks and durations
  • Devise costed and effective solutions for offshore installation/construction activities for fixed and floating wind foundations
  • Provide insight into equipment and methods requirements for onshore marshalling and loadout, and offshore installation
  • Assist sister offices in the preparation of technical/commercial proposal content, or other tendering activities
