Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Healthcare Project Manager to oversee complex healthcare construction projects throughout the Miami market. This role will manage renovations, expansions, and new construction within active healthcare environments, requiring strong coordination, regulatory knowledge, and stakeholder communication. The ideal candidate understands the nuances of working in occupied facilities and delivers projects with minimal disruption, high quality, and strict adherence to safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Manage healthcare construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
- Lead renovations, expansions, and ground-up healthcare builds in active environments
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and cost controls
- Coordinate with superintendents, subcontractors, consultants, inspectors, and owners
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, AHCA, ICRA, infection control, and life safety requirements
- Oversee procurement, subcontractor buyout, and contract administration
- Lead OAC meetings and provide clear, consistent project reporting
- Identify and mitigate project risks, changes, and constructability challenges
- Maintain Thornton Construction’s standards for safety, quality, and client satisfaction
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience managing healthcare construction projects
- Proven experience with healthcare renovations and occupied facilities
- Strong knowledge of healthcare codes, permitting, and regulatory requirements
- Experience managing budgets, schedules, and subcontractor performance
- Ability to lead teams and communicate effectively with all stakeholders
- Proficient in project management and construction software
Preferred Experience
- Large-scale healthcare renovations and phased construction
- Hospital or acute-care project experience
- Miami / South Florida healthcare construction experience
- Background working with AHCA-regulated facilities
