Quality Supervisor – Welding NDE (with Coating) – Uganda

On behalf of a major oil & gas operator, WRS are looking for an experienced Quality Supervisor – Welding/NDE (with Coating) to join a pipeline construction team on a 12-month renewable contract. This role operates on an 8/2 rotation and offers a competitive day rate in USD. This will be a field based role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate welding, NDT, and coating quality control on-site.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, international codes, and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with contractors to interpret and enforce procedures, providing technical support as needed.
  • Implement and manage Welding and NDT Qualification Systems.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and non-conformance assessments, ensuring adherence to Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Supervise the training and competency development of welding, NDT, and coating personnel.
  • Monitor and manage welding and coating materials, storage, and equipment calibration.
  • Participate in root cause analyses for welding-related failures and drive quality improvements.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in pipeline construction is essential.
  • Previous experience working for operator/client
  • Certification as a Welding Inspector (CSWIP 3.1, AWS, PCN, or equivalent).
  • NDT qualification (ISO 9712 or ASNT CP-189 in PAUT, TOFD, UT, RT, MT, PT).
  • Coating inspection qualification (BGAS CSWIP Grade II, NACE CIP Level II, SSPC, or ICORR Level II).
  • Minimum 8 years of quality control experience in oil & gas pipeline projects.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME, API, AWS standards and ability to interpret fabrication drawings.
