Safety Officer
Job description
On behalf of a major EPC client, WRS are looking for a Safety Officer to work in Oman on a contract, rotational basis. This will be a 12 month renewable contract, rotating 12/2 into Oman, paying a monthly salary in USD.
The role will be supporting the construction of a large LNG train, with the project just going into EPC phase.

Job Summary:
- The Safety Officer will be responsible for promoting and ensuring a safe working environment on-site for all personnel involved in the LNG Train project. This includes enforcing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, monitoring compliance with safety regulations, and providing safety training. The Safety Officer will work closely with the HSE team and project management to implement safety protocols and minimize risks associated with construction, installation, and commissioning activities.
Desired Experience:
- Prior experience working on LNG, oil & gas, or petrochemical projects, particularly in remote locations or challenging environments.
- Experience working in the EPC phase of major construction projects.
- Knowledge of HSE management systems and performance metrics.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications: NEBOSH International General Certificate, IOSH Managing Safely, or equivalent safety certifications.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety officer role, preferably within EPC projects, with significant experience in LNG, oil & gas, or heavy industrial sectors.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of local safety regulations and international safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001).
- Skills:
- Ability to conduct risk assessments and hazard identification.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and safety management software.
- Language: Proficiency in English (both written and spoken); knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
