My client are a global energy consultancy with origins in the Oil and Gas sector. With a long track record of delivering environmental and consenting support to offshore renewables projects, in recent years they have established a full suite of renewables capabilities with the creation of our Renewables Division, to offer a one-stop-shop for project and technology development activities. 
They have recently set-up Renewables offices in Boston and Tokyo to complement our UK team offering, building our global capacity to support our rapidly growing client base.

  • Location: Most of the renewables division are based in either our London or Glasgow offices, but we are open to flexible working and remote working arrangements may be possible.
 
Job Requirements
The desired qualifications, experience and competencies for this role are summarised below:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a consultancy role.
  • Experience with offshore wind, wave, tidal or hydrogen technologies and/or offshore renewables project development
  • Relevant Engineering or Science degree, 2:1 and above
  • Relevant PhD or Masters qualifications would be a bonus
  • Penchant for big picture thinking, problem solving and innovation
  • Right to work in the UK, fluent English speaker
 
Role Description

We are looking for an experienced offshore renewables consultant who can provide technical leadership to our Project Development team within the Renewables division. The team consists of 10 engineers covering a wide range of technical specialisms and experience levels.
The Consultant would be expected to take a lead role in project delivery right across our portfolio of projects, providing direction to the project team on the delivery methodology, ensure client requirements are met and that deliverables are to a high quality. In addition, the consultant would be responsible for defining best practices, knowledge sharing activities, technical training, innovation ideas and internal tool development within the P&TD team.

Some typical work scopes that you would provide technical oversight on are:
  • Constraints mapping and site selection across a range of geographies and utilising GIS mapping tools
  • Preparation of project budgets, LCoE/cost modelling and cost comparisons
  • Competition analysis and route to market studies
  • Feasibility studies including technology suitability assessment, project concept definition, installation and O&M planning, risk assessment
  • Technology review and market entry strategy
  • Seabed leasing, grid connection, consenting and CfD/auction application advice
  • Pre-FEED/FEED level design scopes
