What our Staff Think

I am one of the co-founders of WRS, growing our Global Mining and Global Construction division from infancy to what it is today. Over the last 8 years, WRS has provided me with the platform to grow, from managing a small team of consultants to a Director managing several divisions. WRS has provided me with both internal and external training (both classroom-based and practical, hands-on training). This has facilitated my growth both as a manager and a business developer for the company. We have created an atmosphere which we feel differs from a typical recruitment office, one where creativity and autonomy are greatly valued and rewarded.”

I joined WRS with no sales experience at all and was placed within the Middle East Construction division. Within my first year, I have been given the flexibility to explore other parts of the world within the construction sector and now cover construction recruitment on an international basis. WRS has given me the training and support to enable me to work confidentially in speaking to experienced people in the industry and in turn bringing on new clients, candidates and making placements. The WRS team are a great group of people to be around with everyone offering support and guidance when needed - not just in the beginning but even now.”

When I first came to WRS I worked as an Accounts Assistant. I came from a completely different background and decided on a career change, which is what brought me here. Over the past 2 and a half years I have been lucky enough to study for my Level 4 Association of Accounting Technicians course, funded by WRS alongside my work - this has been instrumental in my personal development and has allowed me to progress in a career I really enjoy.”

I have been working here at WRS since 2014 when I was looking for a career change and thought the fast-paced nature and great earning potential of Maritime recruitment sounded suited to my goals. Initially, I resourced for my colleagues, which enabled me to learn the industry inside out – then I began building my own client base. Last year I was offered the opportunity to move into Account Management off the back of a large Managed Service contract win for the business. Now I spend my days managing all of the crewing for a number of offshore vessels. I love the fast-paced, reactive nature of my job and get on really well with my clients and seafarers alike!”

I joined WRS in February this year and really enjoy working for the company. There is a great atmosphere in the office which makes it an enjoyable place to be. I had never worked in recruitment or the marine industry before but have been given so much support and training by the training department and my team, which has made my first three months a lot easier to settle into the company. The training I received for my position as an account manager was excellent, I feel confident in my role already and am learning new things about the industry every day. I genuinely look forward to coming into work and feel appreciated for the role I do. My role can be very challenging but at the same time very satisfying. I hope to continue my career at WRS for many years to come.”

WRS is a fun environment to work in – especially the Marine Department! The culture of the company is extremely supportive, encouraging personal development and career progression. It’s a real team environment, unlike other recruitment companies I have worked at. If there are any issues these are addressed together at the candid weekly meetings, where everyone is encouraged to voice their opinions. I love my role as every day is different. One day I might be searching for offshore crane operators based in Malaysia, the next obtaining the latest information on movements in the North Sea offshore supply vessel market. The role is busy and never a dull moment. You never know what new roles will come in that day. I started at WRS in February in the Marine Department as a Resourcer. I have previous recruitment maritime experience having worked for a shipbroker in London and an offshore vessel owner in Aberdeen in their chartering department. Working in the offshore crewing side has given me experience of another aspect of the industry. I’ve been able to progress quickly, largely due to my existing industry knowledge. As well as resourcing for a global client, I am now working in a Business Development role.”

I started at WRS in January 2019 as the office and facilities coordinator, I was soon given a lot more responsibility and got involved in all aspects of Business Development. I enjoy my role, its varied and busy. There is always something new to do and tasks to take on. I enjoy helping everyone in the office and making sure things run smoothly. WRS is a great company to work for. The management are always there to talk to and listen to any ideas you have. The people are great, we always have a laugh, and everyone gets on well. The location was a big plus for me and is also very good for public transport.”

Before I began my career at WRS, I arrived full of expectations and WRS has fulfilled them all! I am looking forward to seeing what the future will bring to us as a family and how far we will grow, I am just at the beginning of my journey here and I can’t wait to see where that path takes us, based on my experience so far I know it will be amazing. We are all here to help move the business forward and there’s no better way of doing this when you love what you’re doing, which I think is the secret to our success. Working at WRS is magical, you really feel loved and appreciated by everyone in the business. The beauty of working at WRS is the world is your oyster and your career can truly take you anywhere. WRS is the place where an opportunity become a reality, you just have to focus on where you want to go then be ready to put your seat belt on and enjoy the journey, there is no doubt that it will be amazing. I wake up each morning with excitement and always go to work with a smile on my face. I feel really lucky to be able to communicate with people all around the world, helping them find their dream job, its an amazing feeling being part of their journey and love having the opportunity to help them land their dream job. The management team at WRS is so approachable and open with their employees, there’s a great focus on where the company wants to go, and we are given the trust to help achieve this vision.”

I’ve been at WRS now for over 2 years working in the Mining Division. Recruiting in the mining industry is quite different, which is what I like most about the job. It’s such a huge industry, it still feels like I learn something new nearly every day and being able to speak to a range of people across the world is fascinating. During my 2 years at WRS, my recruitment path so far has given me the chance to recruit across Europe, Africa, Asia & the Middle East. The career path for anyone at WRS is largely publicised in the office for all to see with a range of different directions your WRS career can take you. Reward and recognition are something I believe WRS do best. Since I’ve been here, I’ve been awarded employee of the quarter 3 times which is always accompanied with a bottle of fizz to celebrate. Incentives range from short & long-haul holidays, Friday club lunches and a special prize for top billers at the end of the year (some include Packages for the Races, UK weekend breaks).”
