ESG and Climate Initiatives at WRS
For Planet: Sustainability and the Environment
At WRS, we understand the impact our business operations have on the environment and the responsibility we must conduct business in as sustainable a manner as possible. Through the WRS climate action initiative, we focus on reducing our carbon footprint, minimising waste, and reducing our use of natural resources.
Our Carbon Footprint
At WRS, we believe in measuring what matters – our environmental output. Since 2022, we have been diligently tracking our carbon footprint in line with the internationally recognised Greenhouse Gas Protocol. By measuring our emissions across various areas of our operations (scope 1, scope 2 and selected scope 3), we gain valuable insights that help us identify key areas for improvement and take necessary actions to reduce our environmental impact. Although, as a medium-sized business, we are not required by Government legislation to do so, we measure and report on our carbon footprint annually.
Our Carbon Commitment
We measure our carbon footprint annually to identify key areas for targeted reduction and implement effective actions to lower our emissions. As part of our commitment to carbon responsibility, we collaborate closely with leading carbon management platforms to manage sustainability, track emissions rigorously, assess our service lifecycle impacts and set science-based targets aligned with global standards. To balance our greenhouse gas emissions each year, we purchase sufficient high-quality, third-party verified carbon credits from projects focused on renewable energy development, energy efficiency and sustainable cookware, supporting forest protection efforts.
We carefully select projects that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and provide tangible benefits to the local communities involved. This approach reflects an important initial step on our journey toward achieving net-zero emissions.
Reducing our Usage of Paper
At WRS, we recognise the importance of minimising paper usage as part of our environmental stewardship, especially in an industry that has historically been heavily reliant on paper. We have implemented various initiatives throughout our operations to reduce paper consumption and promote sustainable practices. By leveraging technology and digital solutions, we have significantly reduced our reliance on paper-based processes.
Through our concerted efforts, we have seen a remarkable decline in paper consumption, leading to substantial savings in natural resources and energy. We are proud of the progress we have made and remain committed to continuously improving our processes.
