Welding NDE Specialist – Uganda
On behalf of a major oil & gas operator, WRS are seeking an experienced Welding & NDE Specialist to join our team on a 12-month renewable contract, working on a rotational 8/2 schedule on site. This role offers a day rate in USD and the opportunity to contribute to a major infrastructure project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate Welding and NDE activities to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Implement and manage the Welding Qualification Management System (WQMS).
- Provide technical support and guidance to contractors on welding and NDT processes.
- Conduct inspections, testing, and validation of welding procedures and results.
- Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of welding and NDE equipment.
- Monitor welding repairs and oversee material storage and preservation.
- Conduct audits and reviews of contractor and vendor documentation.
- Support the implementation of training programs and qualification processes.
Requirements:
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in a similar role on large-scale pipeline construction projects.
- Previous experience working directly for the client on oil & gas or major infrastructure projects.
- CSWIP 3.1 certification (or equivalent) preferred.
- ISO 9712 or ASNT CP-189 certification in NDT techniques (UT, RT, MT, PT) is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of international codes and standards (ASME, API, AWS).
- Proficiency in industry applications, including MS Office.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
