Overview A well-established MEP / Mechanical Contractor in the Greater New Orleans area is seeking a Chief Estimator to lead and scale its estimating and preconstruction efforts. This is a confidential search for a senior-level professional who can oversee mechanical estimating operations, mentor estimators, and play a key role in strategic growth.
This opportunity is with Pontchartrain MEP, a respected regional contractor known for high-quality mechanical and MEP work across commercial and industrial markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all estimating and preconstruction activities for mechanical and MEP projects
- Oversee bid strategy, pricing, risk assessment, and final proposal submissions
- Review drawings, specifications, and scopes of work for accuracy and completeness
- Manage and mentor estimating staff; establish best practices and workflows
- Collaborate with operations, project management, and executive leadership
- Evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing
- Support business development and long-term growth initiatives
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical or MEP estimating
- Prior experience as a Chief Estimator, Senior Estimator, or Estimating Manager
- Strong background in commercial and/or industrial mechanical construction
- Proficiency with estimating software and takeoff tools
- Deep understanding of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and MEP systems
- Ability to lead teams, manage deadlines, and handle multiple bids simultaneously
Compensation & Benefits
