Worldwide Recruitment Solutions (WRS) is proud to announce its involvement in the recruitment drive for the Mirny Project, a landmark onshore wind energy development in Kazakhstan operated by TotalEnergies. WRS is delivering this recruitment in partnership with FIRCaspian, a well-established Kazakhstani Manpower Agency with deep in-country expertise.
About the Mirny Project
The Mirny Project is located near the village of Mirny in the Zhambyl region in southeast Kazakhstan. It is being developed by Aktas Energy, a joint venture led by TotalEnergies (60%), alongside Qazaq Green Power, a subsidiary of the National Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna (20%), and KMG Green Energy, a subsidiary of the national company KazMunayGas (20%).
Representing a total investment of approximately $1.4 billion, the project will harness average wind speeds of 8.9 metres per second across the region’s semi-arid plains to deliver reliable, low-carbon electricity to Kazakhstan’s national grid.
Key project highlights include:
- Total installed capacity of 1 gigawatt (GW)
- 140 wind turbine generators: 124 Envision EN182 turbines (6.5 MW each) and 26 Sany SI-195 turbines (7.7 MW each)
- A 300 MW / 600 MWh battery-based Energy Storage System (BESS), supplied by SAFT
- Over 200 km of new transmission lines connecting to Kazakhstan’s Unified Electricity System
- Annual output of approximately 4 TWh of renewable electricity
- Capacity to supply around one million people, representing approximately 4% of Kazakhstan’s electricity production
- Estimated annual CO2 savings of approximately 3.5 million tonnes
- Construction commencing autumn 2025, with commissioning targeted for 2028
Roles We Are Recruiting For
WRS is seeking experienced engineering professionals across a broad range of disciplines to support the construction and commissioning of this project. Given the scale of the development, encompassing large-scale turbine installation, a major BESS, and over 200 km of transmission infrastructure, we are particularly focused on candidates with backgrounds in:
- Civil Engineering
- Construction Management
- Electrical Engineering
- Other related engineering disciplines
We are looking for candidates with relevant sector experience and, in particular, those who have worked on large-scale infrastructure or energy projects. Prior experience in wind energy, battery storage, or high-voltage transmission is especially advantageous.
Why This Project Matters
The Mirny Project is currently the largest wind farm project ever undertaken in Kazakhstan, almost ten times bigger than the country’s largest existing solar power plant. Underpinned by a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) signed in June 2023 with Kazakhstan’s Financial Settlement Centre for Renewable Energy, it will deliver approximately 4 TWh of clean electricity annually, around 4% of Kazakhstan’s total electricity production.
The project supports Kazakhstan’s national target of sourcing 15% of its electricity from renewable energy by 2030 and its broader ambition of achieving carbon neutrality by 2060. For engineers, this is a rare opportunity to contribute to a project of genuine national significance, in a technically demanding and internationally high-profile environment.
How to Apply
If you are interested in being considered for a role on the Mirny Project, please send your CV to: info@worldwide-rs.com
Our team will be in touch with suitable candidates to discuss opportunities in more detail. We look forward to hearing from you.
