Management of Travel Disruption in the Middle East

On 28 February 2026, Israel and the USA commenced military action against Iran, creating immediate disruption to airspace and airport operations across the Gulf and Middle East. WRS had four contractors scheduled to travel on that day, with many more due to travel throughout the affected regions in the days and weeks that followed. The situation required rapid, coordinated action to ensure contractor safety without compromising ongoing project commitments.

The WRS Contractor Care team mobilised immediately, working in close coordination with our travel providers, our client TOTAL, and the contractors themselves to replan all affected travel itineraries in real time. The response balanced four competing priorities: contractor safety, route availability, travel efficiency, and cost management.

All contractors were successfully rerouted and returned safely to their home locations or continued to their work assignments without incident.

Between 28 February and 20 March, WRS successfully managed changes to 24 contractor travel itineraries, maintaining full safety compliance throughout. Every contractor reached their destination or returned home securely, with no disruption to critical project staffing.
