Operations Coordinator – Uganda

Location: Buliisa, Uganda (Site-Based)
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Rotation: 28 Days On / 28 Days Off
Day Rate Basis

We are supporting a major onshore energy development project in Uganda and are looking for an experienced Operations Coordinator to join the site leadership team. This is a senior operational role focused on coordinating production, maintenance, construction, logistics, HSE, and contractor activities across a complex operating environment. Reporting to the Start-Up Manager and Field Manager, you will act as a key field representative, ensuring safe, efficient, and coordinated operations across multiple site stakeholders and contractors. The role carries significant responsibility across operational performance, HSE leadership, SIMOPS coordination, emergency response readiness, and site management activities.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Site Coordination

  • Coordinate and oversee all site activities across production, maintenance, inspection, logistics, construction, and contractor operations
  • Ensure smooth execution of daily operations while managing SIMOPS and associated risks
  • Lead planning activities and monitor execution against operational targets
  • Support troubleshooting, reliability improvements, and operational optimisation
  • Approve operational procedures and work programs
  • Monitor contractor performance and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Participate in shutdown planning and major operational campaigns
  • Ensure accurate operational reporting and cost tracking

HSE & Site Leadership

  • Promote and maintain strong HSE culture across site operations
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, Ugandan regulations, and environmental requirements
  • Oversee implementation of emergency response and environmental management plans
  • Review and approve risk assessments, SIMOPS dossiers, and permit-to-work activities
  • Lead investigations into incidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Ensure integrity barriers and safety critical elements remain operational
  • Participate in emergency response activities and site audits
  • Maintain strong site presence and visibility with operational teams

Candidate Profile

  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, or related discipline
  • 10+ years’ experience within oil & gas production, maintenance, or operations environments
  • Previous experience as:
    • Site Manager
    • Production Superintendent
    • HSE Superintendent
    • Operations Support / Production Methods Engineer
  • Strong operational and HSE leadership capability
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and contractor interfaces
  • Strong understanding of production operations, SIMOPS, and field management
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Fluent in English
