We are partnering with a well-established electrical contractor seeking an experienced Electrical Safety Coordinator to oversee safety operations on active construction projects. This individual will serve as the primary on-site safety resource for electrical construction activities, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards, NFPA requirements, project safety plans, and company policies.
The Electrical Safety Coordinator will work closely with project leadership, field supervision, general contractors, subcontractors, and craft personnel to identify hazards, implement corrective actions, conduct training, and maintain safe working conditions across the project site.
This is a highly visible field leadership role requiring strong communication, accountability, and the ability to proactively manage safety in fast-paced construction environments.
Key Responsibilities Safety Program Administration
- Implement and enforce project-specific safety programs and procedures
- Conduct daily jobsite safety inspections and document findings
- Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E standards, and company safety policies
- Assist with development of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and Pre-Task Plans (PTPs)
- Maintain safety documentation, reports, and compliance records
Electrical Safety Oversight
- Verify proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures are followed
- Monitor energized electrical work and ensure proper approvals and controls are in place
- Inspect temporary power systems, grounding, bonding, GFCI protection, tools, ladders, and wiring systems
- Ensure proper use of arc flash PPE and shock protection boundaries
- Support field personnel with hazard identification and safe work practices around energized systems
Training & Communication
- Conduct new hire safety orientations and ongoing field safety training
- Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and daily safety discussions
- Coordinate with General Contractor safety representatives and attend project safety meetings
- Promote proactive hazard reporting and near-miss awareness throughout the site
Incident Management
- Investigate incidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage events
- Prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions
- Support OSHA documentation and project safety metrics tracking
- Assist with return-to-work coordination when needed
Field Presence & Site Monitoring
- Maintain a strong field presence and proactively monitor jobsite activities
- Stop unsafe work when imminent danger conditions exist
- Coordinate corrective actions with Superintendents, Foremen, and field leadership
- Ensure subcontractors and visitors comply with project safety requirements
Required Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 5 years of electrical construction field experience
- 2+ years of construction safety experience preferred
- Strong understanding of commercial and/or industrial electrical systems and construction methods
- Valid driver’s license required
Required Certifications
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification
- CPR / First Aid / AED Certification
- NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Training
- Competent Person Training
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Standards
Preferred Certifications
- CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician)
- STS-C (Safety Trained Supervisor – Construction)
- OSHA 500 / Outreach Trainer
- EM385-1-1 familiarity
- Forklift / MEWP Trainer Certifications
- Confined Space Competent Person
- Fall Protection Competent Person
