Operations Supervisor – Oil & Gas Pipeline & Pump Station Operations (Rotational 4×4)
Location: Tanzania
Rotation: 4 Weeks On / 4 Weeks Off
Employment Type: Rotational Contract
We are currently seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to support the safe and efficient operation of a major oil and gas pipeline and pump station facility in East Africa. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven operations professional with strong leadership capabilities, extensive Permit to Work (PTW) experience, and a background in production, pipeline, gas processing, refining, or utility operations.
Key Responsibilities Operations Supervision
- Lead and supervise field operators in the safe execution of daily operational activities.
- Monitor plant performance, production targets, and operational parameters.
- Conduct routine field inspections to ensure equipment integrity and operational readiness.
- Ensure compliance with operating procedures, standards, and operational checklists.
Permit to Work (PTW) Management
- Act as Permit Issuer, Area Authority, and Permit Controller as required.
- Review, authorize, and monitor work permits to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
- Coordinate permit campaigns and worksite risk assessments.
- Verify site conditions before permit approval and ensure proper permit close-out.
Isolation & Inhibition Control
- Prepare, review, and authorize mechanical, electrical, and process isolations.
- Ensure isolation procedures are correctly implemented, verified, and documented.
- Manage overrides, inhibitions, and bypasses in accordance with company procedures.
- Safeguard the integrity of safety-critical systems during maintenance and operational activities.
Maintenance Coordination
- Coordinate equipment handover and reinstatement activities with maintenance teams.
- Ensure all permits, isolations, and risk controls are in place prior to work execution.
- Participate in maintenance planning and prioritization activities.
- Support safe and efficient maintenance execution.
Leadership & Operational Support
- Provide operational leadership and support site operations during leadership absences.
- Assist with production planning, operational reporting, and incident management.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure operational continuity and performance.
Commissioning, Start-Up & SIMOPS
- Support commissioning and start-up activities.
- Coordinate Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) to ensure safe execution of concurrent activities.
- Participate in readiness reviews, safety audits, and pre-start-up safety reviews.
- Maintain clear communication between operations, maintenance, and project teams.
Remote & Unmanned Facility Operations
- Oversee activities associated with remotely operated and unmanned facilities.
- Coordinate inspection, maintenance, and intervention campaigns.
- Ensure compliance with operational and safety standards across all sites.
Health, Safety & Environmental Commitment
- Champion a strong safety culture and adherence to Life Saving Rules.
- Promote HSE excellence through leadership and proactive engagement.
- Identify and report hazards, unsafe acts, and opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workplace safety.
Requirements Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Diploma in Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of oil & gas operations experience.
- Strong background in plant operations, pipeline operations, gas processing, refining, petrochemical, or utility facilities.
- Extensive experience with Permit to Work (PTW), isolations, lockout/tagout, and operational risk management.
- Proven experience supervising operations teams and coordinating multidisciplinary activities.
- Experience supporting commissioning, start-up, and SIMOPS environments.
- Demonstrated leadership capability in operational and field-based environments.
Preferred Skills
- Operating Authority / Area Authority experience.
- Control room and field operations experience.
- Strong communication, planning, and team leadership skills.
- Experience working in remote locations and rotational assignments.
