About the Role The Multifamily Assistant Superintendent plays a critical role in supporting onsite construction operations for large-scale multifamily developments in the Houston market. This position ensures field activities run smoothly, safely, and on schedule, while collaborating with subcontractors, vendors, and project leadership to deliver a high?quality final product.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their field management career who wants to grow into a Superintendent role.

Key Responsibilities Field Operations

  • Assist the Superintendent with daily onsite supervision of subcontractors, laborers, and vendor activities.
  • Monitor construction progress to ensure work aligns with the project schedule, plans, and specifications.
  • Oversee site logistics, deliveries, equipment coordination, and material inventory.
  • Conduct routine quality control inspections and ensure corrective actions are completed promptly.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce and uphold company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site-specific safety plans.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and jobsite walk-throughs.
  • Report and document any incidents, near misses, or hazards.

Documentation & Coordination

  • Maintain accurate daily logs, photos, and field reports.
  • Assist with RFI tracking, plan updates, and field documentation.
  • Coordinate with the project team regarding inspections, scheduling, and material needs.
  • Support the Superintendent in conducting subcontractor meetings and communicating expectations.

Quality Assurance

  • Verify workmanship meets company and client standards.
  • Conduct punch walks and assist in managing the punch list process through completion.
  • Help ensure units, amenities, and common areas are delivered on time and to spec.

Qualifications Required

  • 1–3+ years of experience in multifamily, commercial, or residential construction.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, building systems, and field operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schedules, and technical documents.
  • Proficiency with construction technology (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Office).
  • Excellent communication, problem?solving, and organizational skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in Houston multifamily construction—wrap, podium, garden-style, or high?rise.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Degree in Construction Management or related field (preferred, not required).

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Full-time onsite role on active construction projects in the Houston area.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions typical of Houston.
  • Occasional early mornings, extended hours, or weekend support based on project needs.
