Job Advert: Electrical & Instrumentation Hook-Up Construction Manager
Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (with frequent travel across sites in Tanzania and Uganda)
Contract Duration: Until end of 2026
We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Hook-Up Construction Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and completion of complex hook-up construction activities on a large-scale oil & gas infrastructure project.
This is a senior leadership role requiring extensive technical expertise, site supervision, and contractor management in a multi-stakeholder, multicultural environment.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage construction and commissioning of E&I hook-up works, ensuring safe, timely, and high-quality delivery.
  • Oversee site supervision teams, ensuring proper manpower allocation and compliance with project schedules.
  • Monitor contractor performance, materials, tools, and equipment readiness to achieve milestones.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE policies, quality standards, and international codes and practices.
  • Lead technical reviews, inspections, audits, and system walk-downs.
  • Mentor and support construction teams while promoting teamwork and strong communication.
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to keep works on schedule and within budget.
  • Provide progress reporting, inspection approvals, and performance evaluations for contractors and vendors.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent with extensive field experience.
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in electrical systems (high, medium, and low voltage) in power supply.
  • At least 12 years’ experience in greenfield oil & gas construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of multidiscipline construction phases and supervision of on-site activities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience working in multicultural environments and managing contractor performance.
  • Strong command of written and spoken English.
  • Willingness to travel extensively as required.
