We are partnering with a well-established electrical contractor seeking an experienced Estimating Manager to lead and manage the estimating function within their electrical division. This role plays a critical part in supporting project acquisition by overseeing the estimating process, ensuring proposal quality, and driving consistency across bidding and preconstruction efforts.
The ideal candidate will bring strong electrical construction estimating experience, leadership capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple bids and timelines in a fast-paced environment.
The Electrical Estimating Manager will be responsible for overseeing the estimating workflow, managing proposal development, and ensuring accuracy and consistency in project bids. This individual will work closely with internal leadership, project teams, vendors, and clients to prepare competitive and well-structured proposals while maintaining strong cost control and estimating standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the electrical estimating quote log, coordinating multiple bid opportunities and proposal timelines
- Review construction drawings and specifications to determine labor, material, equipment, and time requirements
- Develop detailed cost estimates by analyzing labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and schedule requirements
- Assemble and present complete proposals with clear cost breakdowns and supporting documentation
- Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, subcontractors, and clients to clarify scope and resolve estimating issues
- Maintain and update internal cost databases to ensure accurate and competitive pricing
- Participate in project walk-throughs and client meetings to maintain technical knowledge and project insight
- Evaluate material and labor requirements to determine cost-effective sourcing strategies
- Review project scope with estimators, project managers, and leadership to ensure alignment before proposal submission
- Prepare proposal packages including scope of work, schedules of values, schedules, and required bid documentation
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the estimating department to improve processes and efficiency
- Supervise, mentor, and develop estimating staff and other personnel within the reporting structure
- Maintain communication across departments to ensure alignment between estimating, operations, and project execution
- Support internal and external stakeholders as a collaborative partner throughout the preconstruction process
- Occasional travel to project sites or client meetings may be required
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
- Equivalent combination of training, education, and experience may be considered
Experience
- 4–10 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably within electrical construction
- Prior supervisory or management experience required
- Experience with estimating, project management, and scheduling software platforms preferred
