Emergency Response Advisor – Kurdistan

Location: Kurdistan Region (Field-Based)
Rotation: 29 Days On / 27 Days Off
Contract: 12 month renewable 
Day Rate Basis

We are supporting a major onshore oil & gas operation in the Kurdistan region and are looking for an experienced Emergency Response Advisor to join the HSE leadership team. This is a senior-level field-based role focused on strengthening emergency response, crisis management, and business continuity capability across operational sites and offices in a complex operating environment. You will be responsible for maintaining and continuously improving emergency response and crisis management readiness across the business unit, ensuring teams, systems, equipment, and procedures are fully prepared to respond to credible operational incidents and business disruptions. The role will involve significant interaction with operations, drilling, security, medical, IT, and local authorities, alongside hands-on coaching and development of national personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve Emergency Response (ER), Crisis Management (CM), and Business Continuity (BC) plans and procedures
  • Lead the planning, design, and execution of emergency drills and multi-level exercises
  • Support and advise Incident Management Teams across all levels of the Incident Command System (ICS)
  • Coordinate emergency response readiness across field sites, drilling operations, and office locations
  • Deliver coaching, mentoring, and training to operational teams and national personnel
  • Support emergency preparedness for:
    • Fire & explosion incidents
    • H2S and toxic gas releases
    • Spill response and pollution control
    • Security and evacuation scenarios
    • Confined space and rescue operations
    • Medical emergencies and road traffic incidents
  • Ensure emergency response equipment and firefighting systems are inspected, maintained, and operational
  • Work closely with local authorities, contractors, and external stakeholders to strengthen emergency response capability
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through lessons learned, audits, and corrective action tracking
  • Promote strong HSE culture and organisational resilience across all operations

Candidate Profile

  • Internationally recognised qualifications in:
    • Emergency Response
    • Crisis Management
    • Business Continuity
    • Incident Command Systems (ICS)
  • 15+ years’ experience within emergency response, crisis management, and business continuity in the oil & gas sector
  • Strong onshore operational experience within remote or high-risk environments
  • Proven experience leading emergency exercises and training programmes
  • Strong coaching and mentoring capability, including development of local nationals
  • Experience supporting tactical response scenarios including:
    • Firefighting
    • Oil spill response
    • Security incidents
    • Evacuation management
    • Fatality management
    • Rescue operations
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills
