About the Role We are seeking an experienced Traveling Construction Superintendent to oversee the onsite execution of a new student housing/multifamily development project in Norman, OK. This individual will lead field operations, manage subcontractors, and ensure that work is completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.

The ideal candidate has strong leadership abilities, extensive experience with podium or garden?style multifamily or student housing builds, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities Onsite Leadership & Oversight

  • Oversee daily onsite construction activities for all phases of a student housing/multifamily project.
  • Manage and supervise subcontractors, trades, and field personnel to ensure productivity and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager, engineers, and design team to maintain alignment between field operations and project objectives.

Project Scheduling & Planning

  • Develop, monitor, and adjust short?interval and overall construction schedules.
  • Identify potential delays or risks and proactively implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure all work complies with project plans, specifications, and contractual requirements.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce strict adherence to company safety protocols and OSHA standards.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, site inspections, and maintain safety documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, inspections, and regulatory requirements in Oklahoma.

Quality Control & Site Management

  • Conduct ongoing quality checks and inspections throughout all stages of construction.
  • Maintain organized site documentation, including daily reports, RFIs, change orders, and progress photos.
  • Oversee site logistics, deliveries, material staging, equipment, and overall cleanliness of the job site.

Communication & Reporting

  • Lead coordination meetings with subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams.
  • Provide timely updates to the Project Manager regarding progress, challenges, and resource needs.
  • Serve as the primary onsite representative for the company when interacting with clients, city officials, and inspectors.

Qualifications Required

  • 5+ years of Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent experience in multifamily or student housing construction.
  • Proven experience with wood?framed, podium, or similar large-scale residential builds.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, schedules, and specifications.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem?solving skills.
  • Proficiency with project management platforms (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam).
  • Willingness to travel and remain onsite in Norman, OK for the duration of the project.

Preferred

  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience with ground?up student housing developments.
  • Familiarity with local Oklahoma jurisdictions, building codes, and inspection processes.
