A reputable MEP engineering firm in New Orleans, LA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its onsite team. This confidential opportunity focuses on the design, coordination, and delivery of HVAC and mechanical building systems for commercial and institutional projects.
Role Overview The Mechanical Engineer will support HVAC system design, mechanical calculations, and construction documentation from concept through completion. The ideal candidate has experience in MEP consulting, Revit-based design, and exposure to Trimble modeling or coordination tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Design HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial and institutional facilities
- Perform heating and cooling load calculations and equipment sizing
- Develop construction documents using Revit MEP and AutoCAD
- Coordinate designs with electrical, plumbing, and architectural teams
- Utilize Trimble tools (e.g., modeling, layout, coordination) as part of the design and construction workflow
- Participate in project meetings and internal design reviews
- Support construction administration, including RFIs and submittal reviews
- Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, IMC, and local building codes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 3+ years of experience in MEP / HVAC engineering
- Strong proficiency in Revit (required)
- Experience with Trimble software or coordination tools (preferred)
- Solid understanding of HVAC systems, building codes, and energy principles
- EIT or PE preferred (or ability to obtain licensure)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
