A top-tier national mechanical contractor is hiring a Mechanical Estimator in Salt Lake City, UT. This confidential opportunity is ideal for an estimator with experience in commercial HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems who is looking to grow with a leading MEP contractor.
Mechanical Estimator – Job Overview The Mechanical Estimator will lead preconstruction and estimating efforts for commercial and industrial mechanical projects. This role is critical in developing accurate cost estimates, competitive bids, and value engineering solutions across HVAC and plumbing scopes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed mechanical estimates for HVAC, piping, and plumbing projects
- Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings, specs, and BIM models
- Analyze labor, material, and equipment costs
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids
- Develop competitive bid proposals and participate in bid reviews
- Identify value engineering opportunities to optimize project costs
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and preconstruction teams
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a Mechanical Estimator or similar role
- Strong background in commercial HVAC and/or plumbing estimating
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience with design-build mechanical projects
- Background working for a mechanical contractor or MEP firm
- Knowledge of the Salt Lake City construction market
