We are partnering with a highly respected, established electrical contractor seeking an experienced Senior Preconstruction Manager to lead high-level preconstruction strategy, estimating oversight, and design-build coordination.
The Senior Preconstruction Manager will lead the preconstruction process from early conceptual budgeting through design development and handoff to operations. This role serves as a strategic partner to Business Development, Estimating, BIM, Engineering, and Project Management while ensuring projects are accurately budgeted, technically sound, and positioned for successful execution.
This individual will act as both a technical leader and client-facing representative, helping guide projects through design, budgeting, value engineering, and risk mitigation.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Preconstruction Leadership
- Provide conceptual budgeting and pricing support to Business Development for project qualification
- Lead and coordinate estimating efforts, including document review, bid strategy, and estimate reviews
- Organize and lead bid reviews to ensure pricing accuracy and strategic alignment
- Review technical strategies for proposals in collaboration with Business Development and Sales teams
- Support legal and risk management review of contracts
Estimating & Financial Oversight
- Perform estimating as needed to support deadlines and project pursuits
- Manage engineering, BIM, and preconstruction financials
- Establish project budgets from estimates and develop billing schedules of values
- Identify cost impacts throughout design and preconstruction phases
- Develop and price change orders, VE solutions, and client-requested pricing exercises
Design-Build & Project Leadership
- Lead design-build preconstruction processes and coordinate across engineering, BIM, consultants, subcontractors, and clients
- Manage material releases and support project budget control during design phases
- Act as the primary preconstruction lead and point of contact for Project Managers
- Coordinate project meetings and maintain direct client/GC communication
- Ensure project leadership is informed of unresolved design issues, cost impacts, and scope evolution
Leadership & Team Development
- Train, mentor, and develop team members
- Delegate tasks effectively while maintaining accountability
- Review deliverables for technical and financial accuracy
- Support the development of best-in-class preconstruction systems and services
Qualifications Required:
- Strong experience in electrical contracting and/or MEP coordination
- Advanced proficiency in electrical estimating and project budgeting
- Experience managing design-build projects
- Proficiency with ConEst, Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Coins, and Bluebeam
- Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills
- Ability to manage, mentor, and develop teams
- Proven ability to build relationships with clients and perform effectively in project interviews
- Strong balance of technical expertise and communication ability
