FPSO Verification Lead – Athens

WRS are seeking an experienced FPSO Verification Lead to oversee and coordinate verification scheme activities for a major FPSO upgrade project. The successful candidate will ensure all verification processes are executed in compliance with regulatory requirements, project standards, and safety case obligations, working closely with Independent Verification Bodies (IVBs), contractors, and internal stakeholders.

This is a residential role based in Athens on an 18 month contract, with regular interface across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities, and travel to the Middle East anticipated from mid-2026.
Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical focal point between the project team and the Independent Verification Body (IVB).
  • Track, monitor, and expedite verification activities across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Facilitate IVB participation in design reviews, inspections, FATs, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure timely resolution and closeout of IVB findings, comments, and verification items.
  • Oversee compliance of contractors, shipyards, and vendors with the Written Verification Scheme, class rules, and flag state requirements.
  • Support audits and regulatory inspections related to verification and safety cases.
  • Monitor verification scope, schedules, and variations to maintain compliance and project timelines.
  • Produce regular progress reports for project stakeholders, maintaining detailed records.
  • Liaise with technical authorities, contractors, and third-party inspectors to resolve technical challenges.
  • Chair or participate in progress meetings, maintaining action registers and ensuring follow-up.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • 10+ years’ experience in upstream oil & gas, with at least 3–5 years in technical safety, process engineering, or verification activities.
  • Proven experience coordinating with IVBs or implementing verification processes.
  • Familiarity with Safety Critical Elements (SCEs), Performance Standards (PS), verification schemes, and risk management processes.
  • Knowledge of EU/UK Safety Case directives and industry guidelines (Oil & Gas UK, Step Change in Safety, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and documentation skills.
  • Strong organisational skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Self-motivated team player, capable of working independently in a small project organisation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willingness to travel to contractor offices, shipyards, and vendor sites when required.
