Traveling Mechanical Project Manager (Confidential Search)
Compensation: $100,000–$150,000
Location: Travel Required (Midwest-based mechanical contractor)
A leading mechanical contracting firm is seeking a Traveling Mechanical Project Manager to support projects across multiple locations. Job Summary The Traveling Mechanical Project Manager will oversee preconstruction planning, on-site coordination, and ongoing project management duties for mechanical construction projects. This role requires organization, communication, and leadership, with the goal of delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget. The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical construction experience and is comfortable traveling to project sites as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day project activities, documentation, schedules, and coordination.
- Oversee project setup, including job opening paperwork and construction document management.
- Maintain project books, track addendums, drawing updates, and spec changes.
- Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes.
- Perform material takeoffs, track deliveries, process pricing changes, and prepare material orders.
- Prepare and submit O&M manuals and required close-out documents.
- Communicate with internal teams, clients, vendors, architects, and engineers.
- Attend jobsite and project coordination meetings.
- Monitor job progress, ensuring safety, quality, and performance standards are met.
- Support estimating and purchasing functions on a per-project basis.
- Travel to out-of-town job sites; overnight stays may be required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
- Degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, or related field OR 4+ years of mechanical or construction industry experience.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license; driving record must meet company standards.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening.

Working Conditions This role involves a combination of office and jobsite environments. Project Managers may encounter varying weather conditions, heavy equipment, noise, and physical requirements such as lifting (up to 50 lbs), long periods of standing, walking jobsite terrain, climbing, crouching, and reaching.
