Did you catch us at the Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference (OEEC) in Amsterdam this November? We exhibited for our second year running, forming new (and strengthening old) connections in the energy sector, and put their golf skills to the test for a chance to win WRS branded merchandise.
We’ll definitely be attending again next year. But until then, here are a few valuable insights we gained from the event.
Networking works
Relationship-building has always been key here at WRS – and OEEC presented the perfect opportunity to nurture our network. Business Development Manager, Jozef Grzywinksi, took part in the Northern Powerhouse Trade Mission, where he connected with 20 other companies from the north of England and made invaluable regional connections. We also received worthwhile introductions to members of the Department for Business and Trade.
Our team also met up with UK Hub. Plus, we were taken on guided walks to certain stands. We visited DEME Group, specialists in dredging, land reclamation, marine infrastructure, offshore energy and environmental remediation; Ampelmann, experts in walk-to-work gangways; and Osbit Limited, offshore engineering technology pioneers. Our team also took the opportunity to touch base with some of our fantastic clients in the local area, including Furgo, Sealaska and Geoquip.
Panel predictions from ‘Business for the Better’
Chloe Jordan, WRS’ Renewable Energy Business Development Manager, attended the ‘Business for the Better’ panel discussion on Europe’s offshore wind development. Key talking points centred around the growth predicted for floating wind and fixed bottom projects (with a lot of integration), the increasing time to deliver projects, how firms can minimise the levelised cost of energy, and the likelihood that Europe will hit its goals by 2030.
Most of the panel agreed that these goals were too ambitious for such a short time window. However, considering recent growth, there is still potential for success – providing effective delivery and the right supply chain are in place.
Fuel a sustainable energy future with the best talent
We’ll be exhibiting at the next OEEC taking place between 26-27th November 2024. In the meantime, if you’re looking for help recruiting the right talent in the sector, WRS can assist.
