Construction Supervisor (Civils) – Tanzania
We are seeking an experienced Construction Supervisor (Civil) to oversee the execution of civil works on a major crude oil pipeline project. The role will supervise day-to-day site activities, ensuring that all work is delivered safely, on time, and in compliance with engineering standards, specifications, and project objectives. The successful candidate will have a strong civil construction background, a proactive leadership style, and experience coordinating multidisciplinary contractors on large-scale industrial or pipeline projects.

- Site-based role in Tanzania on 8/2 rotation.
- USD day rate, paid per day worked.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the daily civil construction activities, ensuring full compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Coordinate and support contractors and subcontractors to deliver work scopes safely, on time, and within budget.
- Monitor site progress, ensuring adherence to project specifications, drawings, and procedures.
- Conduct regular field inspections to ensure quality, workmanship, and conformance to design.
- Supervise and verify excavation, cut and fill, foundation, roadwork, and drainage activities.
- Manage inspection and testing (ITP) surveillance, pre-pour inspections, and release-to-pour approvals.
- Interface with structural, mechanical, and electrical teams to ensure clear scope definition and alignment.
- Review material readiness, monitor deliveries, and ensure construction schedules are fully supported.
- Identify and resolve construction issues, coordinating with the engineering and project management teams.
- Mentor and support local personnel, fostering technical growth and compliance with safety culture.
- Promote and demonstrate exemplary behavior in HSE, ethics, and conduct.
Candidate Profile
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of civil construction experience in the oil & gas or major infrastructure sector.
- Proven background in greenfield construction supervision on large industrial or pipeline projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of site preparation, compaction, foundations, concrete structures, drainage, and roadworks.
- Experience in contractor coordination, progress tracking, and performance reporting.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, ITPs, and project specifications.
- Familiarity with systems completions and handover processes.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work in multicultural environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and construction management tools.
- Strong safety focus with working knowledge of LOTO and energy isolation procedures.
