Job Title: Manager of Internal Sharia Compliance and Audit
Department: Sharia Compliance & Internal Audit
Location: Erbil
Reports To: Managing Director
Job Purpose:
To lead and oversee the internal Sharia compliance and audit functions of the bank, ensuring that all operations, products, and services comply with Islamic Sharia principles and regulatory requirements. The role involves planning, executing, and reporting on Sharia audits and providing expert guidance to management on Sharia-related matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement the internal Sharia audit plan in coordination with the Sharia Supervisory Board.
Conduct regular audits and reviews of banking operations, products, and contracts to ensure Sharia compliance.
Identify and report any non-compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.
Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure Sharia-compliant product development and implementation.
Prepare and present audit findings and reports to senior management and the Sharia Supervisory Board.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Islamic finance principles, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Provide training and awareness sessions on Sharia compliance to relevant staff.
Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies as required.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Banking Management, Financial & Banking Sciences, or Statistics.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in financial, banking, or regulatory fields.
Completion of at least 50 hours of relevant training in Sharia auditing or compliance.
Membership in a recognized professional association is required.
Preferred: Holder of the Certified Sharia Adviser and Auditor (CSAA) certification issued by the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI).
