Mechanical Estimator (HVAC / Plumbing) – Orlando, FL

A leading mechanical contracting firm in Orlando, FL is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join its preconstruction and estimating team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical system projects across commercial, institutional, healthcare, and higher education markets in Central Florida.

Position Overview The Mechanical Estimator will manage the preconstruction process, preparing accurate cost estimates and proposals for mechanical and HVAC systems. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong technical expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems and a proven track record in estimating for commercial and institutional projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed mechanical and HVAC cost estimates, budgets, and proposals
- Perform takeoffs for ductwork, piping, and plumbing systems using current estimating software
- Review mechanical drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project requirements
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing for mechanical scopes
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and field teams to ensure accurate project handoff
- Participate in value engineering discussions to optimize system design and costs
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HVAC equipment, materials, and labor pricing
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Mechanical Estimator with a mechanical contractor or design-build firm
- Strong background in HVAC and plumbing estimating for commercial and institutional projects
- Proficiency with estimating software such as QuoteSoft, Trimble, FastPIPE, or similar
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and HVAC drawings and specifications
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Local to Orlando, FL or willing to relocate
Compensation & Benefits
