Senior Contracts Engineer – Tanzania

On behalf of a major operator, WRS is looking for an experienced Senior Contract Engineer to manage the procurement and administration of service contracts, spare parts, materials, and consumables to support field operations. This is a key position within the Contracts & Procurement team, responsible for leading contracting processes and ensuring effective contract management during the project execution phase.

  • 12-month renewable contract (extension possible).
  • Based in Dar es Salaam, working on rotation 8 weeks on / 2 weeks off.
  • Day Rate in USD

Key Responsibilities Contracting Process

  • Coordinate and prepare tendering documentation, technical exhibits, and specifications.
  • Manage the full CFT (Call for Tender) process, including clarifications, evaluations, and negotiations.
  • Prepare final recommendations to award and ensure timely contract execution.
  • Support commitment processes and ensure compliance with project procedures and timelines.

Contract Administration

  • Manage awarded contracts, ensuring alignment with technical and commercial requirements.
  • Handle contract amendments, variations, and change orders in accordance with procedures.
  • Monitor contractor performance, budgets, and expenditure against planned forecasts.
  • Ensure contractual obligations are fulfilled up to contract close-out.

Additional Duties

  • Report regularly to the Contracts & Procurement Manager, escalating issues as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality of contractual and commercial documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with company rules, project procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Promote exemplary behavior in HSE, ethics, and code of conduct.
  • Participate in meetings with partners, authorities, and stakeholders as required.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Engineering, Business, Law, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the oil & gas industry, with significant exposure to major projects.
  • Broad experience in contract management, procurement processes, and commercial negotiations.
  • Strong technical understanding of contracts & procurement activities across project lifecycles.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and reporting skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a multicultural project environment.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
