My client a leading electricity producer from wind, solar, hydro, biomass, and storage, is seeking an enthusiastic Environmental and Social Specialist to join their dynamic team. As a service provider to clients globally, they are expanding its activities throughout Europe and Africa, and you could play a key role in ensuring their projects meet the highest environmental and social standards.

Location: France (Paris ideally), Portugal (ideally Porto), UK (London, Bristol, Reading – south England)
Details: This will be a weekly hybrid role having to be in the office atleast 3 times per week, 5 days a week is prefered.

Responsibilities:

  • Support local my clients's teams in maintaining the highest environmental and social standards across projects in emerging countries.
  • Implement the company’s Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) and ensure its effective application.
  • Conduct early-stage reviews to identify potential environmental and social issues during project development.
  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs), Environmental & Social Action Plans (ESAP), Resettlement Action Plans (RAPs), and Community Stakeholder Engagement Plans.
  • Provide expertise during the financing process to meet relevant E&S requirements of lenders.
  • Conduct staff training to develop environmental and social management skills within local teams.
Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in Environmental Management, Science, or Social Science.
  • Strong Knowledge of Envromental impact assessments (EIA)
  • Minimum 5 years of proven work experience as an E&S Manager or E&S Officer.
  • Experience in conducting ESIAs for renewable energy projects.
  • Familiarity with DFI-funded projects, particularly the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, African Development Bank, and International Finance Corporation.
  • Strong knowledge of broader trends in environmental and social management and engagement.
  • Fluent in English (knowledge of other languages is a plus).
