Role: Rotating Equipment Control and instrumentation Engineer

Job Purpose:
 
Support the rotating equipment maintenance team’s goals in ensuring the reliability and availability of our critical rotating equipment fleet

Responsibilities

 
  • Maintain and troubleshoot control systems for Gas turbines, compressors, and generators, encompassing HMI’s, PLC’s (Logix5000, FT125, GE Mark VI), Drives, Historians, and industrial networks.
  • Perform control system backups and manage electronic data records.
  • Gather and analyse process data using the company's various process historian tools.
  • Assist in control system maintenance, test planning, software upgrades, ESD testing, offline and online testing, coordinating activities during plant shutdowns when necessary.
  • Aid in planning and organizing maintenance tasks related to rotating equipment control systems.
  • Review, update, and develop instrument and controls maintenance documentation.
  • Capture data and maintain records using CMMS (Maximo) or other available data sources.
  • Implement control system life cycle management programs, including inventory management, obsolescence planning, spare parts management, and upgrade/replacement planning.
  • Analyse maintenance records to assess control and instrument failure rates, calculate availability/reliability, identify bad actors/failure modes, and conduct cost-effectiveness analysis.
  • Perform criticality assessments and develop equipment strategies/maintenance plans for control systems, considering obsolescence, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Ensure cybersecurity measures are applied to all gas turbine control systems.
  • Establish and maintain IT (Information Technology) and OT (Operational Technology) security controls to safeguard the cyber network and infrastructure.
  • Foster the growth and development of junior team members through on-the-job training and professional development initiatives.
  • Travel to various production facilities in the field.
