Senior Risk Analyst (Shipping)- London

On behalf of a major international operator, I am searching for a Senior Risk Analyst (Shipping) to join their team in their London office on a permanent basis. This will be a residential position in London.

They are looking for a candidate with chartering and shipping experience with a background in trading companies, ship brokers or banks. This is a pivotal team in this dynamic business and experience of this area could lead to a range of interesting and challenging career options in the trading and shipping business.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and explain of shipping P&L and risk reports and follow up any issues with relevant teams;
• Ensure that all risk limits are adhered to and assist in implementing new limits when necessary;
• Assist in identifying the significant risk within the business, ensuring that they are transparent to senior management
• Maintain a good knowledge of the current freight and physical oil market;
• Support the development of the shipping business model;

Requirements:

• University degree in economics, finance and / or engineering discipline;
• Strong knowledge of the shipping industry and freight markets, a solid understanding of pricing mechanisms, supply and demand balance, ship operations and logistics etc.
• Thorough understanding of the physical oil markets and the relationship with freight markets
• Advanced knowledge of risk metrics such as VaR, stress testing, scenario analysis;
• Knowledge of one or more of ETRM systems would be an advantage (Endur, Symphony by Amphora).
