Senior Electrical Engineer
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer who will be the principal for specifications, design, and construction of the electrical infrastructure for wind, solar, battery and transmission facilities. The role requires technical competency on electrical infrastructure as well as project management skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee third parties and Owners Engineering services.
  • Support tender processes, contracts, and general project management including technical negotiations with contractors, project assessments, lead requests for information, due diligences, site visits, and engineering studies.
  • Supervise work related to project development activities, consultancy scope, and engineering
  • Provide technical support during negotiations
  • Supervise the electrical design of facilities, including the evaluation and follow-up of contractors’ proposals and works.
  • Support the general engineering and management aspects of projects.
  • Understanding of Interconnection Studies and ability to translate requirements into site specific project designs.  
  • Ability to support interconnection team with applications and study reviews
  • Able to manage the following design studies:
    • Short Circuit Study
    • Cable ampacity study (collection system, substation, and T-Line)
    • Arc Flash study
    • Harmonics study
    • Relay coordination study
    • Insulation coordination study (including transient overvoltage and effectively grounded)
    • Load flow/power flow study (showing compliance with power factor and voltage requirements at all load levels)
    • Electrical loss calculations
    • Substation and WTG/PV/BESS grounding study
    • Any other special studies that may be needed as requested based on special site conditions (e.g., lightning study)
  • Manage the preparation of the following:
    • Detailed collection system, substation, and/or T-line specifications
    • All vendor submittals including Cable, MPT and GSU transformer shop drawings, inverters, BESS integration, etc.
    • Complete (IFC) drawing packages for the collection systems, collection substations, t-line and interconnection switchyards

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering
  • PE Certification
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in renewables
  • Subject matter expert in BESS & SCADA
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements
  • Construction planning, estimations, and risk management skills.
  • Ability to use CAD software if needed for preliminary designing.
Salary:
Annual base $150-180K
20% target bonus
Location:
Remote with the ability to travel up to 50%. Quarterly visits to Minnesota office for team meetings.
