Civil Engineering Construction Lead

WRS are in search of a Civil Engineering Construction Lead for a gas project in North Africa.  This is a contract position, 4/4 rotation offering a 12 month renewable contract.  Harsh desert experience is a must 


Role and Responsibilities 
  • Supervises contractors that monitor and execute construction activities.
  • Ensures that contractors comply with Groupement Berkine (GB) HSE procedures and the necessary design considerations in a timely manner.
  • Monitor the ongoing works with the contractor and ensure compliance with PTW procedures
  • Ensure contractors price proposals are in accordance with the contract and price estimates are reasonably accurate as per industry practices
  • Review and approve contractor invoices for the work done
  • Prepare monthly value of work done of the contracts
  • Support the ongoing construction activities by displaying a good awareness of HSE issues and imparting that protocol to the HSE site manager for control of the same
  • Liaises with Contractor Project Managers
  • Work with Engineering, Project & Construction groups to ensure that facilities are fit for purpose and operable.
  • To mentor the work crews during tasks as needed.
  • To work with Engineering to ensure that design of new facilities are fit for purpose
  • Liaise with survey contractor to ensure correct set outs for all works
  • Monitor work schedules and advise of potential delays
  • Assist in the management of interfaces including attending daily joint site walk arounds.
  • Ensure training mine modules are performed and never get into an overdue condition.
  • Participate in review and development Risk Assessments, JSA's, management of change, and field change proposals to provide input during construction of facilities.
  • Assist in the preparation of training programs for plant operators for start-up and continuing education at facilities.
 
Requirements
  • Civil Engineering qualification and/or Construction Management/Engineering qualification required
  • At least 5 years work experience in a Construction Supervision in petroleum, petrochemical or infrastructure companies
  • Requires strong project management skills
  • Must have strong communication skills in both written and verbal areas.
  • Must be an expert in construction processes, compliance with safety and engineering standards.
  • Likely to have qualifications in Safety Management / HSE
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Safety Standards (US and International) and Permit to Work controls.
  • English language skills required, French &/or Arabic would be advantageous but is not mandatory
