IC Construction Manager

Job description

Essential Functions

· Accountable to the SM or overall project CM for assigned field activity responsibilities.

· Coordinate with all other contractors and owner’s representatives to facilitate efficient overall site operations (including critical technology providers and OEMs)

· Responsible for overall field direct and indirect manpower management to ensure that sufficient manpower of the right skill is available timely to perform the work required to meet schedule.

· Communicate with SM/PM to execute the project on time and on budget. Alert PM to any cost overrun or condition that may result in a cost overrun.

· Ensure tools, consumables, safety supplies, equipment and materials needed for construction, not specifically identified on the BOM, are ordered, managed and available when needed.

· Monitor tool usage and security for property. Be actively involved and a champion of the workface planning process including work breakdown structure, work package identification and scoping, schedule logic definition and review.

· Detailed planning to complete work in an organized manner, completing each work package to conclusion with minimal punch or outstanding work activities.

· CM to identify critical construction items that have the potential for impacting the schedule.

· The CM should have a thorough understanding of the contract documentation, project scope and specifications and will inform PM of any changing conditions. Determine/enforce disciplinary actions when needed.

· Ensure that site crane and rigging work activities meet corporate and site-specific requirements.

· Coordinate subcontractor and direct hire work activities so that they align with project goals.

· Strictly adhere to the project lines of communication. Any communication to department management should be only after all project site lines of communication have been exhausted.

Position Qualifications

· Demonstrated success in leading merit labor, direct hire construction projects.

· Demonstrated success in leading multiple subcontractors on complex construction projects.

· Demonstrated engagement with key construction labor management personnel.

· Ability to build rapport and positive relationship with on-site personnel.

· Ability to contribute as a member of a project leadership team.

Prior Project Qualifications

· Experience in Power Generation construction is required.

· Experience in Pulp & Paper, Chemical or Pharmaceutical construction are an asset.

· Project experience should include projects from $5M up to $100M.

· Project experience should include multiple projects with significant subcontractor involvement.

Education

Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
