Offshore Wind Development Manager (Philippines)

Job description

WRS are recruiting for an Offshore Wind Development Manager to to join an offshore wind developer in Manila, Philippines.

This position will be responsible for working closely with the companies competence centers within supply chain, procurement, consenting and engineering to progress development of the offshore wind project portfolio, primarily on Luzon.

Main tasks and activities:

  • Deliver the work plans and meet the development milestones of the offshore wind portfolio in the Philippines.
  • Take part of an expanding CIP platform, sourcing and executing domestic investment opportunities across renewable technologies out of the Metro Manila region.
  • Implement business case levers across the project portfolio and contribute to securing power offtake.
  • Onboard and manage suppliers of wind measurement campaigns
  • Environmental impact scoping and assessments (EIAs) including surveys, geophysical and technical investigation and grid studies.
  • Build relations and negotiate with local stakeholders, especially municipalities, local residents, and other users of the sea. 
  • Secure necessary permits from DoE and other relevant authorities to install wind measurement equipment and perform offshore surveys, requiring close collaboration with authorities on a working level
  • Plan, manage and collate inputs from various competence centers with the aims of vendor selection, supply chain maturation, review of environmental and wind data and reports informing site delineation, wind farm layout and wind yield analysis.


The successful applicant will:

  • Have a university education on at least Bachelor level, perhaps from an international university
  • Be a Philippine national with international working experience, or working with a foreign company
  • Have ~5-10 years energy sector experience, preferably in a broad, hands-on role within renewables
  • Have an entrepreneurial mindset, pursuing aims with all means without giving up when meeting resistance
  • Possess aspirations for a global career developing offshore wind markets and projects

With the acquired experience – unique to the Philippines – the candidate can over time grow into a broader role on the project portfolio, initiate work on further projects added to the portfolio or re-locate globally within the company to take roles fit for candidate experience and background.
