2023 is coming to a close – and with that, we’ve launched our roadmap for 2024. We’ll be entering our 16th year, so vision and strategy have never been more important – but we’re also ready to celebrate our beliefs, values, and fantastic team as we continue to grow.

WRS Highlights from December
Christmas parties at WRS UK and USA
Our UK and US teams painted the town red (and green!) with delightful Christmas celebrations. In Manchester, our UK team indulged in a festive feast at Habas restaurant, while across the pond, our US team enjoyed a splendid evening of tapas at Bulla Gastrobar.It was fantastic to see our CEO, Mark Brown, and Uganda Business Development Manager, Iain Porter, joining the festivities, bridging distances to celebrate together.
A visit to the MIK Foundation
CEO Mark Brown and Customer Care Manager, Nina Dransfield, journeyed to Uganda, bringing support through the donation of essential food items to the MIK Foundation. This visit underscored our unwavering dedication to supporting orphaned children in the Hoima region, shining as a powerful example of our commitment to creating a positive global impact.
OEEC: All you need to know
We exhibited for the second year at the Offshore Energy Exhibition and Conference (OEEC) in November – it was a great opportunity to network with existing clients and new prospects. Our latest article details exactly what we learned.

Sustainability Initiatives and Achievements
As well as matching talent to projects in the sustainable energy sector, we’re proactively reducing our own carbon footprint. For example, we cut unessential travel, use recycled goods, and prioritise local supply chain procurement.
We were also recently certified as carbon neutral by Climate Partner, after offsetting 386.45 tonnes of carbon emissions from 2022. But our sustainability pledge isn’t limited to in-house activities. We’re supporting two United Nations-approved initiatives, which aim to foster positive social and ecological change:
emPOWERing Africa: We’ll deploy renewable energy technologies across the continent, to provide easier access to green energy and promote local expertise.
Improved cookstoves: These consume substantially less firewood than traditional open wood fires, a leading cause of deforestation in Uganda.

We were also honoured with some amazing awards this year. Insider recently wrote a feature about our Financial & Professional Services win at the Made in the UK Awards. And we’ll be continuing this streak with our own company awards in January.
