Concrete Superintendent - Traveling
Job description
Position Overview:
The Concrete Superintendent provides jobsite and department leadership for civil, sitework, and concrete projects including shared accountability of safety, quality, and financial performance.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintain knowledge of OSHA requirements for the specific types of work that we perform.
• Supervise and direct foremen and craft employees.
• Provide scheduling & planning for projects.
• Responsible for ensuring that all required materials, personnel, tools, & equipment are readily available for the job.
• Responsible for assuring quality of work meets customer and company expectations.
• Responsible for fostering a safe work environment and prioritizing worker safety.
• Act as a key point of customer contact for communicating information and updates, business development, customer satisfaction, work coordination, & work planning.
• Reviews time recaps and assure accuracy of craft employee time.
• Responsible for tracking and reporting progress, managing project budget and schedule, and accurately accounting man-hours to appropriate cost codes.
• Responsible for recruiting and acquiring skilled craft in compliance with company policy.
• Responsible for managing owned and rented equipment, including maintenance and upkeep
• Responsible for purchasing bulk material including, but not limited to lumber, rebar, and concrete.
• Responsible for managing sub-contractors if needed and coordinate with other onsite contractors.
• Work with other company personnel to achieve project success, including project managers, quality control coordinators, safety coordinators, payroll coordinators, and administrative assistants.
• Assist with estimating.
• Assist with change management.
• Responsible for developing good working relationships with all co-workers, customers, & associates.
• Responsible for maintaining integrity, professionalism, & morale of civil department
Educational Requirements:
• Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D.
Applicable Experience & Competencies:
• Minimum of 15 years of civil/concrete construction experience, preferably in industrial facilities.
• Requires advanced skills in sitework, concrete, carpentry and equipment operation.
• Strong organizational and communication skills are a must.
• Experience with estimating job and interpretating drawings.
• Basic computer skills and use of a smart phone / tablet.
• Must be willing to travel and take on out of town assignments for extended periods.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Ability to work day or night shifts as required.
• Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.
• Ability to work long hours when required.
• Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to walk long distances.
• Must be able to work in any environment.
• Must be able to physically work for up to 84 hours per week if necessary.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, twist, reach, & climb.
