Job description

WRS are looking for a Process Safety Engineer -  Technical Authority, for a contract position in Algeria.  This is on a 4/4 rotation.  Previous desert experience is required.  

The primary role of the Technical Authorities (TA) is to act as technical integrity advisor within designated engineering discipline by ensuring the safe and consistent application of national regulatory codes, site technical practices and engineering standards. The TA shall provide assurance to the EA that all equipment and systems under their responsibility meets the Standard of Performance, and that plans are put in place to rectify any deviation that is identified.

  • Provide assurance to Engineering Authority on all aspects of process safety within ISG.  
  • Provide technical support to all departments within ISG operations on the implementation of process safety. 
  • Identify and develop appropriate KPI’s, performance contract objectives, and other performance indicators as necessary to demonstrate process safety performance at ISG.
  • Support the implementation of the IM standard as it relates to the process safety discipline.
  • Ensure process safety related site technical, operating and maintenance practices satisfy the requirements of relevant Technical Practices, codes and Algerian laws/regulations, with respect to the process safety engineering discipline.  Identify and assess the impact of any discrepancies.  Where necessary produce new STP’s.    

Requirements: 
  • Essential - BEng - Chemical/Process Engineering
  • Essential - Post Graduate Qualification in Process Safety Engineering
  • Essential - Chartered Engineer (CEng)
  • Preferable - TUV FS Eng Certification
  • +12 years post grad experience
  • Language skills required:
    • English – Fluent
    • Arabic – Seen as an advantage
    • French – Seen as an advantage
