Project Development Manager UK

WRS are recruiting for a Project Development Manager to join an experienced renewable energy developer in London, UK. 

This position will be responsible for Managing the development of a solar/wind/BESS project within budget, from any stage up until a ready to build state, dealing with any appeal process and discharge of relevant planning conditions.

Main tasks and activities:

  • Coordinate project team activities (internal and external), ensuring key milestones are met.
  • Ensure financial and technical targets are met when delivering projects.
  • Suitably plan, organise, monitor and report on all phases of project life cycle
  • Manage and report on all project risks, ensuring management are kept fully abreast of any significant development.
  • Alignment of project decisions to the efforts of Power Marketing, specifically in response to changing energy policy.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders (eg. planning authorities, community relations, statutory consultees, landowners, grid network operators) and represent the company in a professional and competent manner. 
  • Liaise with internal company stakeholders as required and ensure all corporate policies are fully adhered to. 
  • Carry out other "ad-hoc" activities required to achieve the company's objectives.

The successful applicant will possess expertise in:

  • Development - A deep, proven understanding of 'greenfield' development process for solar farm projects in the UK (including site control, securing interconnection, permitting process, etc.). Good knowledge of associated business development costs.
  • Management - Brilliant Project Management skills on large scale utility-size projects
  • Energy Markets - Knowledge of the electricity market in the UK, including but not limited to interaction with grid operators (TSO and distribution companies), knowledge of the Italian regulatory framework and development road maps (desirable)
  • Solar and BESS Technology - Demonstrated knowledge of PV technology and costs. Basic knowledge of ancillary technologies (batteries, T&D networks, hybrids, etc.)
  • Ultimately having good experience in project development alongside a virtuous track record when it comes to delivery, contractual negotiation and closing are vital for this role.
