Senior Consultant Energy Storage

WRS are recruiting for a Senior Engineer Wind Energy to join a leading energy consulting firm. This role is responsible for  doing diverse technical consultancy work in energy storage projects (primarily grid-scale batteries) for customers, for 60-70% of your time. In some projects, you will work in a team with colleagues with different levels of experience and/or backgrounds; in other projects, you will manage the project team. Furthermore, you will lead and support business development within the team and with other teams, interacting with customers and colleagues to win new projects, especially within The Netherlands but often also in other countries in our region.
 
 This role is permanent, and based in Arnhem, the Netherlands.

Responsibilities:
  • Executing consultancy/engineering projects on grid-scale energy storage systems, such as (depending on customer needs and your background and preferences):
    • Business case assessments (experience with techno-economic calculations is a pro)
    • Technical due diligence
    • Independent / owner’s engineering
    • Engineering support for the Dutch Ministry of Defence
    • Safety reviews and risk assessments (incl. standards review and testing)
    • Trainings for customers
  • Managing medium-sized and large projects within the team and with other teams
  • Independent business development activities
    • Leading and supporting business development, independently generating and handling proposals from start to finish (in The Netherlands as well as internationally)
    • Extending our external network and finding project opportunities
    • Building strong relationships with external customers
    • Meeting new customers and presenting the company's services
  • Preparing and giving presentations at customer meetings and events
  • Tracking and responding to new industry/market developments
  • Building an internal network to gain and share knowledge and opportunities
  • Providing strong input on the team’s strategic planning and marketing decisions
  • Supporting the company's mission and vision, having some fun while doing it!



Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in electrotechnical engineering, sustainable energy technology or a similar technical study
  • At least 5 years of work experience, preferably related to the energy sector or energy technologies
  • Understanding of the energy transition, the role of energy storage in transmission and distribution systems, and the technical aspects of this role and of various energy storage technologies themselves
  • At least 2 years’ experience with grid-scale energy storage systems / applications / regulations, particularly in The Netherlands, as well as industry contacts, are a pro
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (Dutch is a clear pro)
  • Available for domestic (~1 day per week) and international travel (~4-6 times per year)
